Hi, colleagues. This is a spot (shamelessly copied from the one Greg did several years ago) for us to post our ideas for our short-term courses. The requirement for this year is to teach for two blocks (approx. 3 hours) during each of the two sessions; at least one of your courses should be academic. Putting up your idea here is not writing it in stone, but perhaps it will help us all generate more ideas to hear from each other. After all, we are geniuses.
Basic Short Term Info.:
The time is divided up into two "terms" -
Term One: May 20, 21, 22, 26, & 27
Term Two: May 28, May 29, June 1, June 2, June 3, & June 4
Daily Schedule: 8:15 to 9:00 Community Time
9:10 to 10:45 Block One
10:45 to 11:00 Break
11:05 to 12:40 Block Two
12:40 to 1:25 Lunch
1:30 to 3:05 Block Three

ACADEMIC BOWL BOOTCAMP: For current members of the academic bowl team, students planning on joining next year (either 8th grade or high school team) or anyone who's interested in general knowledge competition. This is a sport; so we'll train and scrimmage accordingly.
WATCHMEN: You've seen the (mediocre) movie, now read, anyalze, and discuss the source material, considered by many the greatest graphic novel ever written.
FILM LANGUAGE: How do filmmakers speak? Through cinematography, editing, lighting and composition. Learn how the greats of cinema create meaning through film technique. This class will prepare you for Oman's moviemaking course in which you will apply all that you have learned.
COMEDY WRITING: Aspire to a career as a writer for 30 Rock? The Office? Or raking in the bucks after creating the screenplay for PINEAPPLE EXPRESS? Learn the basics of comedy and try your hand at a variety of forms: sketch comedy, collaborative skits, TV scripts and screenplays.
